Listen In: White Lung Made You A Playlist

September 2, 2014 | Sophie Weiner

Listen In” is a weekly feature in which we ask musicians to curate a mixtape-length YouTube playlist of songs they’re currently digging. Click the big play button above to hear the whole playlist or scroll down to see and hear individual tracks.

Vancouver’s White Lung are one of the most exciting punk bands working today. Their thrilling songs pound you with relentless energy that only intensifies at their live performances. After releasing their exceptional album Deep Fantasy earlier this year, the band are poised to take over the hearts and minds of fans of loud, fun music everywhere. Their playlist serves as a pretty good run down of White Lungs influences, featuring deeper cuts from punk’s past, with a track from the obscure metal band Acid and a Serge Gainsbourg composition thrown in for good measure.

White Lung will be performing alongside ANIMAL favorites Swans, Tim Hecker, Julia Holter and many others at the upcoming Basilica Soundscape, a multimedia arts festival held in Hudson, New York the second weekend of September.
