Welcome to the summer of Scarlett. Here’s a trailer for Lucy, a new film from Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element). Scarlett is a forced drug mule, a bag of drugs surgically implanted inside her, a bag that’s leaking and for some reason is causing her to have superhuman powers. She’s a supersmart superkiller now. She can pluck satellite signals straight out of the air. She can “feel every living thing.” Do we care that the story hinges upon a long-refuted myth that people only use 10% of their brain? Hell no. Lucy opens in the US on August 8.

Speaking of “it’s like all the things that make me human are fading away,” Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin is out now, where Scarlet is a succubus who fell to Earth.
