New J Dilla/De La Soul Instrumental Record Is For Sale in NYC Somewhere

April 17, 2014 | Andy Cush

Last month, De La Soul surprise-released Smell the Da.I.S.Y., a collection of vintage De La verses reworked over previously unheard J Dilla beats. Now, they’re doing a limited vinyl release of the late producer’s instrumentals, and, in a continued effort to get more press than they’ve seen since AOI: Bionix, conducting an easter egg hunt of sorts to find it.

The record is available now, but only in a few stores across the country. The group has given a few clues as to where on its websites, posting links to Yelp searches for “vinyl record store” in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Chicago. So, it’s probably in the five boroughs somewhere, and for what it’s worth, the first NYC shop to come up is Rebel Rebel on Bleecker.

Alternately, they’re also selling a few copies on eBay, which will probably get pretty expensive. Happy hunting!
