New York Council Bill Aims to Ease Alternate Side Parking Rules

June 30, 2014 | Marina Galperina

New legislation goes before the City Council today that would potentially allow drivers to return to their spots after the street sweepers pass on “alternate side parking” days.

Due to parking shortage, the 90-minute parking restrictions currently result in double-parked cars, traffic jams, and other inconveniences. If the bill passes, the spots will be open for legal use after the sweepers pass, but since the NYC’s 450 mechanical street sweepers do not have GPS locator technology, they’re going to have to be quick. (Photo: Design Mind)
