Russia: Man Stabbed to Death in Argument About Poetry

January 29, 2014 | Marina Galperina

A 53-year-old former teacher was outraged when his 67-year-old friend insisted that “the only real literature is prose” in an argument, so he stabbed him to death, RIA reports. A poetry fan, the man fled the murder scene and was tracked down and arrested a few days later. He is being charged with murder.

It was quite the evening of impassioned literary theory discussion. Also, drinking.

Yeah, ha ha ha, right, I know, Russia you are so drunk you drunk poetry stab drunk drunk. Meanwhile, at the same time, in Oklahoma — a 33-year-old man was charged with killing his stepfather with an “atomic wedgie” that caused him to suffocate on his own underwear. USA! USA!

And in September, someone got shot in line for beer in Rostov-on-Don, Russia in a disagreement about philosopher Immanuel Kant. So there.
