According to CBS, the once anonymous street artist who goes by the name Judith Supine surrendered to police earlier today, accompanied by his lawyer. The work that he gratuitously puts on the street had nothing to do with it.
Identified as Brendan Fagan, he’s facing reckless endangerment and trespass charges for allegedly scaling the Queensborough Bridge. A video documenting the ambitious undertaking was purposely posted to YouTube and showed one of his signature pieces installed atop the structure. With that teenager from New Jersey sneaking into 1 World Trade Center recently and a very public press conference by Senator Chuck Schumer, it’s not surprising that the NYPD launched an investigation into the bridge incident.
Last week, ANIMAL conducted an exclusive interview with Judith Supine before the debut of his “Golden Child” solo exhibit. When asked if it was a good idea to let us interview him on video without obscuring his face — for the first time in his mysterious career — he laughed it off. “It’s probably not a good idea,” he said, then admitted that it’s not too big of a deal. “The shit I’m doing is like jaywalking.”
