Teen Student Stylizes Self-Portraits For Each Decade of the 20th Century

May 5, 2014 | Sophie Weiner

Sixteen-year-old Annalisa Hartlaub, a possible usurper of Tavi’s teenage fashion queendom, has clearly worked out how to become an internet darling overnight — nostalgia. Don’t just appeal to one group of olds, hit ’em all! For a photo class project, Hartlaub took selfies to the next level, styling herself as a counter-cultural archetype, twice for each decade of the 20th century.

The photos are digitally altered to match the medium of the decade, though her ’20s look almost like an 1800’s daguerrotypes. Her flower child outfit is appropriately warmed by a Polaroid-like glow. Instagram should get on this shit. See the full set on her Tumblr.
