Snow is a scourge. It has held our city in a virtual stranglehold for months — this weekend’s pleasant weather notwithstanding —  turning sidewalks into skating rinks, screwing up parking, and keeping the Department of Sanitation from picking up trash. And there’s more coming this week. But that doesn’t change the fact that it can be a quietly beautiful thing, as evidenced by this timelapse video of snowflakes forming, shot in microscopic detail by Vyacheslav Ivanov. It’s set to Aphex Twin’s “Avril 14th,” which doesn’t hurt either.
