The 13-year-old son of a NYPD cop who was killed along with his partner in Bed Stuy mourns his father on Faceook with a heartwrenching tribute. Video of police scrambling to save the two men has emerged. “All cops are not bad cops,” reads citizen graffiti that popped in the East Village last night. The Daily News reports that cops actively searching social media for threats.

A fourth person — Female Suspect #2 — surrendered to the police for allegedly assaulting two officers on the Brooklyn Bridge during a rogue protest.

New York City’s very modern subway network relies on a decades old signal system. The AP reports: “Antiquated electro-mechanics with thousands of moving parts are still critical to operations. Dispatchers still monitor most trains from 24-hour underground “towers,” and they still put pencil to paper to track their progress.”

So-called “synthetic marijuana” is reportedly making a huge comeback despite being banned, creating another good argument for why real weed should be legalized.
