One of the city’s best commuter options, the East River Ferry, was forced to shut down its operations earlier today due to the arctic-like ice buildup all along the East River.

The continued cold snap lingering around New York City has created natural hazards for ferries, but there’s still hope. We will resume service at 12pm from Pier 11 heading north,” reads an update on the ferry’s website. “Some stops may be inaccessible, and we will update if we find that to be true.”

UPDATE: As of 12:30, Greenpoint and LIC are inaccessible due to ice floes.
