Listen In: Ceremony Made You a Playlist

May 19, 2015 | Liam Mathews

“Listen In” is a weekly feature in which we ask musicians to curate a mixtape-length YouTube playlist of songs they’re currently digging. Click the big play button above to hear the whole playlist or scroll down to see and hear individual tracks.

The Bay Area’s Ceremony used to be a hardcore punk band. But they’ve been around for 10 years now, and they’ve grown up into a post-punk band. Now they play classic bass-driven, Ian Curtis-baritoned songs like the A-side/B-side music video “The Separation + The Understanding.” They made us a playlist of the (mostly) post-punk songs that influenced their album The L-Shaped Man, out May 19 from Matador.
