Professional Propaganda Outfit D.A.R.E. Duped by Propaganda Involving Killer Weed Edibles

May 5, 2015 | Bucky Turco

Drug Abuse Resistance Education, or as it’s commonly called, D.A.R.E., is the world’s largest and most ineffective anti-drug program ever. It’s also the dumbest. In its effort to be relevant, the organization has a blog that the creators of Reefer Madness would be proud of, and it recently reposted an article that was satire as news. Entitled, “Edible Marijuana Candies Kill 9 in Colorado, 12 at Coachella,” the blog post has been removed — but not before the internet screen-grabbed and preserved it so that it can rightfully and publicly shamed. The original source of the article is topekasnews.com, a fake news site.

As noted by the Washington Post, the “article” contained tea bagger-type gems like this:

It is sad that in a country as developed as America, such third world drugs such as marijuana are allowed to exist,” the story’s anonymous author wrote. “Children are being addicted to marijuana. I knew this day would come, when a liberal president allowed a state to legally sell Marijuana Flintstone Vitamins to children.

Founded by racist Los Angeles police chief Daryl Gates in the 1980s, the D.A.R.E. curriculum is widely regarded as an epic fail by at least three federal studies. Some findings even indicate that kids who were exposed to it were more likely to do drugs — LOL. Despite these facts, it’s still quite expansive and somehow gets taxpayer money to run its faulty organization and sponsors horrific reality shows involving street art. At one point, D.A.R.E. even pivoted over to anti-bullying, since that’s the new buzz word and the new source for federal funding.
