These Sculptures Of Social Media Surveillance Cameras Are Beautiful

January 14, 2015 | Rhett Jones

Fidia Falaschetti is an artist who concerns himself with getting laughs more than getting long critical theses about his work. The satirical target of these “Social Security Cameras” is fairly obvious — so we won’t bore you with an analysis of the ways we all put ourselves under surveillance when we use social media — but what we will say is that things are beautifully constructed and look really great. The best one, for Twitter, is below.

While the aesthetic appeal of these pieces is as much a testament to the solid branding at these social media giants’s marketing departments as it is the artist’s own contribution, Falaschetti’s execution is flawless and his choices are just right. I want one mounted right above my computer.
