Some Dude Is Suing Kanye West and Damon Dash Over the Word ‘Loisaidas’

Michael Medina is a Lower East Side resident who owns the trademark of the word “Loisaidas” as it relates to music and film. Bowery Boogie and other outlets identify Medina as a singer in a band called Loisaidas, but he is not listed on the bachata duo’s Facebook page.

Whether or not he’s in the band, though, he claims to own the plural form of “Loisaida,” a slang term referring to the Lower East Side’s Puerto Rican-American community, and that Loisaidas, a film being executive produced by Kanye West and Damon Dash, violates his trademark. So he’s filed a lawsuit against the hip-hop moguls.

We hope that Yeezy gives a deposition and it leaks, as it will surely join Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber in the pantheon of great musician depositions. Here’s the lawsuit:
