“All Your Pot Are Belong to Us:” An Insane, Artful Look at Weed Trafficking

June 24, 2013 | Andy Cush

Between 2005 and 2011, U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized 17 million pounds of weed on the Mexico-U.S. border. Seventeen million pounds. That’s seven billion dimebags! It’s enough weed to roll a joint taller than the Washington Monument, I just learned from this nutso, meme-y look at just how much pot 17 million pounds really is, courtesy of the Center for Investigative Reporting. If you’re interested in really digging into the numbers, the CIR also made a beautiful interactive map detailing the nuts and bolts of trafficking and seizures on the border, but I’m warning you, it has 100% less flying spliffs and blippy 8-bit music.
