Ancient Native American Graffiti Stolen by Terrible Hacks

Assholes with chainsaws looted a few 3,500-year-old rock etchings from the side of a volcanic cliff in California’s Sierra Nevada region. Not only did they strip ancient Native American art, the crude removal damaged the remaining adjacent work.

The recent plundering of petroglyphs of animals, mysterious geometric shapes and historical narratives is the worst case seen in the region and, for priceless cultural objects, they’re only going to bring in some measly $500 or $1,500 on the black market.

Really, what was the use of going all Banksy-poacher on the petroglyphs? This isn’t some abandoned Detroit plant. This is sacred Native American ground.
