Cops Hit Guy’s Car, Arrest Him For Hitting Their Car, Get Caught on Video

February 21, 2014 | Andy Cush

Last April, two Keystone Cops NYPD officers were driving the wrong way down Watkins Street in Brownsville when they sideswiped a parked SUV belonging to a man named Robert Jackson’s girlfriend. Jackson was inside, and stepped out to ask the officers how’d they manage to run into him. Then, according to Jackson, the cop said “Dude, you ran into me.” UPDATE: Unsurprisingly, the Post got this story very wrong!

In short order, Jackson found himself arrested for destruction of city property, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, spending the night in a “filthy, overpopulated, rat- and rodent-infested cell.” The charges were eventually dropped.

Fortunately, a surveillance camera on a neighbor’s home caught the whole thing on video, and according to the Post, the video corroborates Jackson’s story. He’s now filing a lawsuit against the department and the two officers.
