A little over an hour ago, a helicopter carrying five people crashed into the East River. It was reportedly taking off from the East 34th Street helipad and started to spin out of control. When the pilot tried to land the aircraft, it ended up in the water.

Police divers pulled out four survivors and rescue teams are still actively searching for the fifth passenger. UPDATE: The fifth person was found DOA. (Photos: Susan Marchesini)
