Electronic Music From the Freak Underground at 285 Kent

On Monday, November 11, Profligate, Humanbeast, Pvre Matrix and Nick Klein are set to hit the stage at Brooklyn’s 285 Kent for a night of unconventional electronic music. While the projects performing are heavily influenced by noise and experimental dance music, each act varies in their attack. You can expect to hear dance floor ready techno, dark vibrating synths and unrelenting drum machines with waves of divine noise washing over.

Profligate is on tour from North Carolina supporting The Red Rope EP which was just released October 15 on DKA records. The Red Rope EP delivers heavy hitting tracks that are equal parts industrial minimal synth, noise inspired techno and darkwave. His inspired live shows deliver unexpected energy from a one man synth project.

Providence’s Humanbeast released an impeccable LP on Load Records this past August to considerable praise. Earning a 4.5 out of 5 on Resident Advisor, their latest work, Venus Ejaculates into the Banquet has been described as “the most extravagant and primal recording to come out this year.”

This married couple, who brought us Queer Marriage a few years back have been playing music together for over ten years, and the chemistry shows. It is impossible to ignore their fascination with the BDSM, perversion and the bodily that creep into their poetic lyrics and are often acted out in their live performance. Led by Armstrong’s staggeringly powerful vocals, Humanbeast deliver some of the most gorgeous avant-garde snythpop of today.

Brooklyn locals Pvre Matrix and Nick Klein will be setting things off, starting at 8PM. Pvre Matrix plays straight forward, jungle tinged, congealed and propulsive techno while Bad boy Nick Klein can be described as an “astral jammer.” Come out and support some the best of the freak underground.

Supported by DJs Half Life (Industry of Machines) and Ciarra Black who will be spinning pulsating oddities between sets, the night should be worth a Tuesday morning hangover. The underage may rejoice, however, as this is an all ages event.
