Glenn Beck Gets Sued for Being a Crazy Old Racist

April 1, 2014 | Andy Cush

It wasn’t just the New York Post that pointed an accusatory finger at innocent young men who just so happened to have brown skin in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing, and now, they won’t be the only ones getting sued for it, either.

Abdulrahman Alharbi, a Saudi Arabian student who was present at the scene of the explosion, has filed a lawsuit against Glenn Beck, alleging that the far-right media provocateur falsely accused Alharbi of participating in the attack. In this case, Beck’s racially-charged fearmongering was even worse than the Post’s: Beck continued claiming Alharbi’s involvement even after bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was killed in a police shootout and authorities cleared Alharbi of any wrongdoing — at least Rupert Murdoch’s rag published its “Bag Men” cover while the investigation was still open.

“While the media continues to look at what the causes were of these two guys, there are, at this hour, three people involved in the bombings in Boston,” Beck said at the time. “The first one was caught on Monday, and we don’t know at this point … how he was involved. But we do know that he was involved. … How many times does lightning has to strike in the first place for this guy to be at the scene of the crime and in the hospital and not involved?”

It’s hard not to remember the time Beck was falsely “accused” of murder and rape back in 2009. You’d think he’d know better by now.
