Harold Ramis aka Egon from Ghostbusters Is Dead

Harold Ramis, a giant of 80s comedies is dead at the age of 69. He’s credited as the writer of cult classics such as Animal House, Caddyshack, and Ghostbusters, the latter of which he also acted in. In that film he played Egon, who prophetically declared that “print is dead” in 1984. He’s also famously used a Twinkie to explain the dangerously high levels of psychokinetic energy in the New York City area—although there’s been some debate about those computations by people who forgot this is a movie. He apparently wasn’t a big bellyacher like his fellow ectoplasm-busting peers when it came to dragging around the proton packs, per IMDB:

According to director Ivan Reitman, none of the actors enjoyed wearing the packs, but Harold complained the least (Reitman would not say which actor complained the most).

RIP Harold Ramis!
