Imagine How Fast the Bus Would Be If People Got Off Right

After the success of Select Bus Service on 1st and 2nd Avenues, this past Sunday, the MTA rolled out the same for 34th Street a notorious, slow moving traffic choke point. The more efficient system demands that riders pay for their fare before they get on, speeding up the boarding process and that’s great.

Dedicated painted bus lanes have also helped move things along more efficiently. However, there’s no way the transit agency is going to be able to implement the system on all their routes and in the meantime, can people please start exiting the bus from the back? That action alone could make things considerably better and at least justify having to listen to that obnoxious, reoccurring announcement urging the same.
