KKK’s Racist Candy Baiting
In Long Island

September 2, 2014 | Marina Galperina

Residents of Hampton Bays, Long Island have been finding bags of Jolly Ranchers and fliers inviting them to join the KKK’s Loyal White Knights strewn across their lawns and slipped into their mailboxes.

The Southern Poverty Law Center told CNN this weekend that this is part of the organization’s seasonally-expanding efforts to gain members in several cities across the country and that the recent months of activity has been spanning seven states. Newsday notes that it isn’t very effective because the KKK is “a joke.”

The predominantly white neighborhood of Hampton Bays has a growing Latino population, hence the candy and fliers about people who are not white allegedly tooking der jerbs.

KPRC reports that when African-American resident Damian Neveaux found the flier and called up the Klan claiming that he too had concerns about border security, he was told that he wouldn’t be allowed to join: “This flier wasn’t meant for you.” (Photo: @arete13)
