Listen In: Young Widows Made You a Playlist

April 30, 2013 | Andy Cush

Listen In” is a weekly feature in which we ask musicians to curate a mixtape-length YouTube playlist of songs they’re currently digging.

Kentucky’s Young Widows are perhaps the only working post-hardcore band that would put a 2010 Tom Petty track onto a curated playlist, and the rest of their “Listen In” mix continues that disregard for expectations–encompassing jazz, classic art rock, and a few tracks from the band’s contemporaries. Click the big play button above to hear the whole playlist, and scroll down to see and play individual songs.

Note that Coliseum’s “Under the Blood of the Moon” and the Liverhearts’ “Of Doctors and Daggers” were left off the YouTube playlist as they’re not available on the streaming video service. Both tracks are included as Bandcamp embeds below.
