Listen In: Melissa Auf Der Maur Made You A Playlist

September 9, 2014 | Sophie Weiner

Listen In” is a weekly feature in which we ask musicians to curate a mixtape-length YouTube playlist of songs they’re currently digging. Click the big play button above to hear the whole playlist or scroll down to see and hear individual tracks.

Veteran indie rocker, photographer, actress and artist Melissa Auf Der Maur has earned her title as one of the hardest workers in alternative culture over the past few decades. Now, she has worked with Pitchfork’s Brandon Stosuy and others to curate the third annual Basilica Soundscape festival in Hudson, NY. The event, which takes place this weekend, will feature renowned artists as diverse as Swans and Julia Holter, in addition to readings and visual art installations. Auf Der Maur made us a playlist that provides a sneak peak of the wonders we can expect this weekend in Hudson. If you can’t make it, don’t worry: this playlist is the closest you can get to actually being there.
