The Lower East Side Looks Like the Early 1900s Right Now

ANIMAL got a tip that Steven Soderbergh’s Cinemax series The Knick is being filmed in Manhattan today and visited the set. The neighborhood is utterly transformed. All bike racks, parking meters and other signs of modern times were removed from Orchard Street between Delancey and Grand and from Broome Street between Allen and Ludlow, through this Friday.

The rest was covered up by hay, dirt and dust. There are old fashioned pants hanging off balconies. There are nearly 300 immaculately costumed extras and they’re everywhere, just chilling between takes.
