Luke Smalley Takes Us On A ‘Sunday Drive’

11.05.09 Will Sherman

Through constructed scenes, seemingly of a timeless era, Luke Smalley explores feminine and masculine ideals. His final body of work, “Sunday Drive,” tells the surprisingly beautiful story of three women prepping to see their boyfriends in jail, followed by the prison trio killing time until their arrival. The exhibition, held in memory of the 53-year-old photographer who passed away in May, opens this evening through December 19th at Chelsea’s ClampArt, 521-531 West 25th Street.
