Male Koalas Raise Their Voices To Avoid Conflict, Which Some Humans Do, Too, If You Think About It

Researchers at the University of Queensland have observed that male koalas raise their voices in order to avoid conflict, according to EurekAlert.

“Unlike humans, who raise their voices in an argument, male koalas bellow their presence to avoid confrontation with other males in the breeding season,” the University of Queensland’s Dr. Bill Ellis said.

“They can tell who’s bigger from their calls, and stay away from them.

“At the same time, they use their bellows to attract females.”

“LADIES LADIES LADIES COME CHECK ME OUT SEE HOW LOUD I CAN YELL” – koalas.

This seems like like the opposite of what human males do until you think about how many fights you’ve seen that were all yelling, no hitting. You know the expression “his bark is worse than his bite?” That applies to both koalas and grouchy neighbors.
