MoMa Reaches Out to Teens, Joins Tumblr, Obviously

August 6, 2013 | Kyle Chayka

As part of MoMA’s dedicated outreach program to teens, the museum has reportedly spent over nine months preparing a Tumblr account called “MoMA Teens.”

Through doing this, the organization has thoughtfully addressed an often ignored cultural issue — the inherent intimidating atmosphere that’s most commonly associated with the viewing artworks in the museum setting. Given such a definitive goal as well as their extensive nine-month time frame, it will be interesting to see how this new online venture fairs, as the blog presently looks and feels much like anyone’s Tumblr account, albeit seamlessly paired with links to the organization’s own arts courses, directed specifically towards teens. (Image: MoMA Teens)
