More Brooklyn Spas Closed for Alleged Prostitution

September 10, 2013 | Andy Cush

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s office continued its quest against shady massage parlors this week, shuttering Bay Ridge’s notorious Bright Ocean Spa and four other spas in the area for alleged prostitution. Last time, evidence showed human trafficking may have been involved, and that seems to be the case in at least one instance here. According to Metro, the investigation began when one woman told the DA she was forced to prostitute herself.

“I hope that these arrests will send a message not only to the communities of Dyker Heights, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn Heights and Greenpoint, but throughout Brooklyn, that my office shares their concerns regarding these so-called ‘massage parlors’ and we will not tolerate illicit operations that exploit women and adversely affect neighborhoods,” Brooklyn DA said of the arrests.
