'Box' Hater Gets Arrested, But For What?

1_ANIMALNY_250_thebox-1.jpgAs reported yesterday, someone's been posting up notices warning of impeding rape and drug dealing at The Box, specifically citing the doorman Gans Genc of basically being guilty of crimes against humanity. One of NYC's tabloid papers who happened upon the story, mentions that the campaign was launched by a disgruntled club-goer who couldn't get into the seedy spot and that he's been arrested. But as one confidant noted, "You can get arrested for slander?" You can be sued for libel/slander, but you're not going to jail. The best they could have gotten him on is littering or if the cops were really ignoring the law: harassment. Without physical provocation though that would be tough to prove, not to mention the free speech component. So again, what was the dude charged with? But as a legal eagle rightly notes,"Police arrest people all the time, it doesn't mean they're guilty." |Previous|

Update: The alleged, non-arrested 'Box Killer' responds in the comments.

Greetings, New York. I AM THE ONE WHO DISTRIBUTED AND POSTED THOSE FLYERS, and I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT I WAS NOT ARRESTED.

As people on this site seem to have rightly noted, the police would NOT arrest someone for this totally legitmate form of free expression. I posted these flyers at various points throughout my beloved downtown at strategic locations (most of which were already papered with other random ads, notices, etc.) because it's finally time for the BS to end. It's finally time for the city to purge itself of all the animals that have been preying on the innocent denizens of our fair city. How ironic: a criminal like Genc (thanks to the poster on DBTH who corrected my spelling on this loser's name) who gets his rocks off on ostracizing others might in fact now have to face being ostracized from that larger communal network known as SOCIETY.

I want to make this point very clear, i.e., that I was NOT arrested, because I wouldn't want anyone else who wants to speak up against all the BS (both in and outside of NY nightlife) to be intimidated into giving up their inalienable rights to free speech. No, contrary to spending any nights in jail, I've been sleeping soundly in my apartment for the past few days. I didn't realize that my postings would get anywhere, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this morning that they are first on "down by the hipster," which links to this site, which then refers to the New York Daily News. Thank you all fso much for spreading the word out on this much more than my puny little flyers could ever have done.

GOD BLESS AMERICA, and a little something called THE FIRST AMENDMENT.

here's a little extra sumtin-sumtin as well, if anyone does have relevant info: if Genc and his ilk are here illegally, there is a webiste linked to a US law enforcement agency that deals especially with this sort of thing -- if you're interested, it's 1-866-DHS-2-ICE or, 1-866-347-2423 -- not only the employee but the employer that knowingly hires illegal aliens would be in serious shit

and by the way, I actually checked with NYPD prior to my actions before doing what I did, so take that, Box-beotches!

Box-Killer: Feel free to email me, I'd like to confirm your comments. Thanks.

I still see some of those flyers hanging around downtown . seems highly dubious that someone actually got arrested for this
