Indian Airline Hates Liberty, America

500_JetAirways1.jpg

A bindi on Lady Liberty! And right outside Penn Station! While you're at Jet Airways, "India's finest international airline,"why don't you dress her in a sari (well actually, she kinda already is), step on her toes, and extinguish her torch right after lighting Old Glory on fire with it? EvilDoers! Don't you know America is at war? With, like, all of Asia? We push a button, and your WHOLE COUNTRY becomes a tarmac! Boycott Jet Airways! Boy...nevermind. Is the billboard at all offensive? Insensitive? Me, I don't think so. Tattoo Vishnu on LL's ass, I don't care. Maybe it's offensive to Indians?

Funny as hell. New yorkers will pay attn to something other than themselves Heck, I'm the number one navel gazer of the 5 boroughs. I just can't believe the client bought this. Bravo for the balls to present it and even bigger balls for a client who bought it. Sniff... It gives me hope

Navel-gazing? Or unemployed? How would you feel if it was your culture?

Having a bindi on lady liberty is not an insult.

In Indian tradition, applying BINDI is a mark of respect on a guest. In other words, India(jet airways) is welcoming Newyorkers to be their guests.....

uh yeah, it's a non-issue and a good advert.

what mhb said. i doubt other indians would find this offensive either. yawn

That's the blood of patriots, not a bindi. And, yes, I'm offended.

I think that it is encouraging to note that advertising can still elicit such passinate responses in people. I think the CD who came up with this concept has been vindicated by the response.

As per how much this offends - c'mon people grow a pair. This is no more offensive to the US than the recent brazilian booze ads featuring the nude models were to women / brazilians. Lets not be overly sensitive. The comment added by 'asap4sale' is quite correct in its assertion that the bindhi is actually a sign of respect.

Great concept. I just hope that the client has the balls to roll out other variations of this theme - perhaps featuring Uncle Sam, Mt Rushmore, Washington on the dollar bill, etc.
