White trash? Really? Clearly tossing out slurs doesn't count when it comes to white people. Replace the words in that headline with any other derogative racial epithet and see if it flies.

Look, I understand humor and satire, but this is one of the more boneheaded and purposelessly insensitive and demeaning posts you've made. "...Who cares? It's West Virginia!" I'll tell you who cares; the people who live there. So you're suggesting that, based on their geography, the people who were born there and have survived by providing generations of coal mine workers so people like yourself have electricity in their home, somehow don't matter because they're predominantly white and tend to be less educated? Before you write them off simply because they, as you linked and pointed out, have fewer per capita bachelor degrees, ask yourself this; how many people with bachelor degrees from New York are making sure you have enough electricity in your home so you can boot your computer and make snarky, pathetic attempts at humor on your cute little website.

The "bad guy" here is the media, yet you used this as the impetus to take a swipe at the residents of W. Va. Bravo.

I live in West Virginia and I would like to point out that there are several colleges and universities here that are fully accredited, and they do graduate fully educated people who stay in the state. We wash ourselves, wear shoes, obey all the social limitations of breeding partners, and have all our own teeth. I am not sure why the stereotype of the ignorant hillbilly continues to persist outside of the state; how many residents of the Ozarks are still reminded of "The Beverly Hillbillies" whenever their states is mentioned in the news?

But the fact is, West Virginia is a racist state. Your history is soaked in hatred, and the support racist ideals and actions. I have visited West Virginia once, and will never go back. I watched several interviews of West Virginian Voters and the majority gave Obama's race as a primary concern and reason for voting for Clinton. The others stupidly stated that he being a Muslim(which he is NOT) is why they didn't vote for him. If he were a muslim that shouldn't matter anyway, but I realize that asking for Americans to understand that would be asking too much of my fellow citizens. Unfortunately, the ignorant masses ruin it for the educated and humane few that live in West Virginia and since the representations of the Black race in the media have seemed to be valid way to judge us as a whole, I see no problem with making a generalization about a state that I had Bad personal experiences in, as well as those candid interviews I saw. Just accept that West Virginia is filled with ignorant people, who are comfortable with their ignorant beliefs, and a college education doesn't automatically make you not fall into that category either
