John Mayer: T-Shirt Obsessor

hbb6.11.1-thumb.jpg Rocker John Mayer provides more evidence that he's got way too much time on his hands by way of his Japanese cool guy Honeyee blog. In his latest entry, Mayer ruminates over how aroused he was to finally receive a 'Master Chang' t-shirt that's been an object of his fancy for over seven years now, writing:

"I've received things by FedEx many times more valuable than this, yet I can't remember being more excited to pull that funny little plastic strip that never really seems to open the box as it's supposed to."
What's the big deal, you ask? It's just a t-shirt after all, right? He gives four reasons for the utter amazingness of this tee:
1. It is not intentionally ironic; it's really meant to promote a local karate studio. 2. The juxtaposition between the intensity of the photo and the matter-a-fact-ness of the typeset.
3. It is truly new old stock, probably silkscreened 15 years ago
4. It's more limited edition than any tee shirt I've ever known
But he doesn't end there. He goes on to describe how a t-shirt conveys a story or some shit, and how the search is so important, and a few other sentences of hypebeasty product speak so lofty that you'll just have to go and read it for yourself. |Honeyee: John Mayer|

I love it -- "it's not intentionally ironic." What a moron.

By the way, just in case you're looking for a shirt that IS intentionally ironic, I spotted this bad boy a few days ago.

This Shirt is Intentionally Ironic
