Creep Staring At Me From NYC Bank Window
For the last few months, HSBC has been running a strange new print ad campaign featuring weird black & white illustrations of fake customers expressing their fake love for the bank. Seeing these surreal faces in a magazine is one thing. Seeing one of them eyeing me as I walk by an HSBC branch is another. And is this peekaboo perv supposed to represent me the customer, or one of their "Business Banking relationship managers?" Either way, I am most definitely not feeling a friendly neighborhood bank vibe—though I guess this is marginally better than bombing taxis with push pins.

At first glance, I thought it was an ad discouraging potential bank robbers. The drawing looks like a police sketch.

Same here. With that simple layout with the red edge (WARNING!) it looks like some notice or other about security cameras, safe locks or ex-Navy Seals inside.
Since I am not a potential bankrobber (at least not as long as the ATM keeps giving) I wouldn't look twice at what's written.

No. What really looks like a bank robber is someone standing outside a branch taking pictures of the bank.
You want to hope this branch doesn't get held up in the near future as you might find yourself high on the suspect list when they start reviewing the tapes!
HSBC hasn't done a single decent ad anywhere in the world ever - and this one is no different.
