“Obama Classic” Basketball Fundraiser Brings Michael Jordan To NYC Court

Eager to close the funding gap between Obama’s and Romney’s campaigns, this Aug 22nd, one lucky NYC court will play host to showdowns between deep-pocket donors and basketball legends Michael Jordan, Carmelo Anthony, Patrick Ewing and Sheryl Swoopes…and maybe the Hoopster-in-Chief (God bless you, NY Daily News). The winner gets dinner with Obama and Jordan. Once again: the winner gets to share chow with the President and the greatest basketball player who ever lived. Entry for a website raffle to win an all-expenses-paid trip on the court starts at $3, though wealthy donors are expected to pony up $35,000-$40,000 to share the court with the above stars. Benevolent bonus: Obama for America Deputy National Field Director Marlon Marshal notes that the shot at the top is transferable should you have a friend (or a dedicated journalist??) who’s more of a natural on the court.

“Don’t worry if suiting up with hoops stars isn’t your thing,” Marshall’s email read. “I know you’ve got a kid or a friend who would love nothing more than to play with their heroes while you cheer them on from a courtside seat.”
