No matter how hung over you were after Halloween partying Friday night, no matter how inhospitably cold your apartment was during yesterday’s 40ish-degree weather, you did not have a shittier weekend than 19-year-old NYU student Asher Vongtau, who spent a staggering 36 hours wedged between two buildings at 80 Lafayette Street before being rescued Sunday evening.

Fire Department rescuers had to break through the wall of a garage to get Vongtau out after the student’s phone was found on the roof of 80 Lafayatte, an NYU dorm.

The circumstances under which Vongtau found himself stuck “are unclear,” according to a statement from NYU.
