05.13.11 Marina Galperina

For all of 2010, David Shapiro drew and painted exact reproductions of his utility bills, employment checks, grocery receipts and ticket purchase stubs in pen and ink, color pencil and gouache with extreme detail. 12 vellum scrolls of scrutinized banality – one for each moth – are presented at his solo show as part of the New Museum’s Festival of Ideas for a New City. “Money Is No Object,” David Shapiro, May 7 – Jun 19, Sue Scott Gallery, NYC
