There Was Real Graffiti at Art Basel

Every major, corporatized event needs a side act and for Art Basel, it’s Wynwood Walls. Street artists and graffiti writers descend on Miami’s Wynwood warehouse district annually to paint legal murals and create much-needed buzz, while the real money is changing hands a few miles away at various big art fairs. But not everyone plays by the rules. Some “reserved spots” got ragged and there was lots of unauthorized tagging going on, giving the increasingly sterile landscape some soul and legitimacy. Check out some photos of tags around town by REMO, HAELER, SMELLS, EASY, GUN and others.
