Republican Millennials Favor Legalization A lot More Than Older Assholes in the GOP

Republican Millenials — a dickish demographic too young to be as cynical as they are — tend to be much cooler with ending the prohibition on pot than the older curmudgeons in their party, according to a Pew Research poll. A whopping 63% of young GOPers showed support for the legalization of weed compared to Republican Generation Xers (47%), Baby Boomers (38%), and the Silent generation (17%).

Liberals, on the other hand, are a lot more supportive of legalization. Amongst Democratic Millenials, 77% support legal weed. Across the board, lefties of all age groups showed more support for chronic than their right-leaning counterparts with 66% of Boomers, 61% of Gen Xers and 44% of the Silent generation being in favor.

Ironically, it’s the Republicans that espouse the ideals of states’ rights, smaller government and less federal meddling in local affairs — all of which are the major hallmarks of pot legalization. Those are also the founding principles of the GOP and the sticking points that voters on the right are the quickest to abandon when it comes to weed.
