Common sense for any kind of opening in the city dictates that unless you’re on the guest list or have special credentials, you’re wasting your time. A lesson learned the hard way yesterday when throngs of damp, Kid Robot fans were told they would not be running their fingers over smooth oversized vinyl Dunnies at the toy peddler’s new flagship space in NYC—which amazingly got done in time—despite waiting on line for hours. Kid Robot Still Toying Around With Flagship

118 Prince, Kid Robot’s NYC Flagship Store
With the Kid Robot Pirate Store closing last week, and a date of May 1st set for the official opening of their new NYC Flagship space at 118 Prince Street—despite the pirate branding for the pop-up—it’s no wonder they’ve got contractor Ivy Walk working through the weekend. After all, there’s still a good amount of work to be done if this thing is gonna be retail ready by Thursday. There’s also plenty of rack space for their highly priced pajama-looking hoodies, wacky cardigans, and, shockingly: $65 beach towels! So get ready toy fanatics and streetwear man-boys. Welcome to the almost completed Bloomie’s of designer vinyl and mundane apparel. More shots of the unfinished business after the jump.
