Because today’s only REAL news story is the snow in New York City, here’s some footage of snow in New York City. Trust, this is the most captivating 20 seconds ever produced. The video was bravely taken less than an hour ago in Brooklyn and provides a glimpse of the destructive nature this strange form of precipitation creates.
We at ANIMAL usually leave the sports news to other folks, but this is something that sort of transcends that: Tiger Woods, the subject of rampant infidelity rumors of late, crashed his car into a tree this morning and is said to be in “serious condition.” |Orlando Sentinel|

So a plane crashed in the Hudson River. According to the City Room, USAirways flight 1549, bound for Charolette, North Carolina may have ran into a flock of birds. A flotilla of boats is surrounding what’s left of the plane as the current continues to move it swiftly downtown along the Hudson. We took these photos from the 66th floor of the Empire State Building.

After plausibly being ID’d as Robin Gunningham earlier this week, Banksy, the popular not so anonymous street painting stenciler responds on his website:
“Please Note
I am unable to comment on who may or may not be Banksy, but anyone described as being “good at drawing” doesn’t sound like Banksy to me.”
And in response to this perfectly predictable piece, no it doesn’t matter if he went to a fancy prep school, and he ain’t “middle class” either, he’s rich!
This just in: someone else is trying to scale the New York Times Building. The man is reported to be about 1/3 of the way up. Just hours earlier, the French Spiderman climbed to the top, amidst lots of fanfare, and was arrested after climbing 52 stories. From what we hear authorities have cordoned off the area and news trucks are already on the scene. As soon as we get some images we’ll be posting. Apparently the Times’ building has become the new staging ground for publicity-stunting artists and activists. Close-up pic of the panting climber after the jump. Update: The City Room reports that he’s been arrested by police after reaching the top. He identified himself as Renaldo Clarke of Brooklyn and was wearing a t-shirt with the word “malaria” printed on it.
Another crane collapsed in NYC this morning around 8am on 91st Street and 1st Avenue. Steamfitter Damian Burnz was on the scene and sent in these exclusive photos of the carnage. He said that two people are confirmed dead. This is the 2nd crane disaster in Manhattan in less than a few months, the last one falling in Midtown on March 15, killing seven people.
