Bushwick IHOP Officially Opens

At 7AM this morning, the highly anticipated Bushwick IHOP opened to the public. We decided to pop in and check it out, this time with permission. The pancakes were franchise fresh, in other words, no odd variations, and although the coffee was expensive, it was infinite. Here’s what else we saw:

The new IHOP is located at 787 Flushing Avenue and will be open from 7am till midnight.

From the looks of things, the new IHOP opening in Bushwick is humming right along and will debut its doughy delights on Tuesday the 20th, as planned. The highly anticipated waffle house/battle arena was holding an orientation last night and it took them about five minutes before noticing someone walking around snapping photos. But before they did, here’s what was shot. As you can see, it’s staffed up and fully stocked.

First Look Inside Bushwick’s New IHOP (Fight Center)

There’s still a lot of work to be done to this under construction IHOP on Flushing Avenue in Bushwick, but since the front doors were flung wide open and the laborers were somewhere in the kitchen, the perfect opportunity to take a few photos of the interior presented itself yesterday.

As you can see, there’s a nice sized arena and the decor will make a nice backdrop for all the inevitable, made for YouTube violence that is destined to break out there.

Good news for really poor tourists and area hookers, the Sumner Hotel is officially open for business. Located right off Flushing Avenue on Sumner Place in Bushwick, they’re currently offering a promotional rate of $79.99 a night for a room with a queen size bed. But, one of the spot’s best features by far is its newness, virtually ensuring a bedbug-free experience, a guarantee that not even some of the city’s most expensive hotels can give at this point. Insane-Acting Person Is Actually a Performance Artist

On Christmas, I shot footage of what appeared to be an escaped patient from Woodhull Hospital in Bushwick and uploaded it to YouTube. Not so. Unaware of the video I posted, the following coincidental email arrived with a link to the finished product, solving the mystery:

Hello

My name is Matthew Silver. I performed in Bushwick, NY under the J-train as a doomsayer and filmed it. I made a movie about it. The Doomsayer becomes a positive person at the end of the film from an emotional Epiphany. The filming was done in the public without a permit. The peoples reactions are real, (fantasy meets reality). Its filmed at three of Bushwicks key transportation locations. Myrtle/Wyckoff, Myrtle/Broadway and Myrtle/Flushing. It’s a positive film, the message is “Love is Now”. I believe it will be very entertaining to put in your Culture section because of its local appeal. Please take a look. You won’t be disappointed.

I will be performing at these location on various days as the man in the film. Starting tomorrow at Myrtle/Broadway Tuesday Dec 28 1pm -4pm. If I’m consistent you will eventually here about me from outside sources. I will be holding a huge sign that says “LOVE IS NOW” and I will be bald.

This A**hole Tried to Steal My Bike

Last night, I leaned my pricey road bike against a metal gate just outside the front door of my building in Bushwick, Knog light still blinking like a strobe. I walked about 15 feet away to take a photo and within those 30 or so seconds, this young hoodlum gingerly walked up and actually tried to take my steed.

Well, let’s just say he wasn’t very successful. After a brief altercation that wasn’t nearly as dramatic as this one, he began speed walking away and from the down the block yelled: “You should lock up your bike.” Cause ya know, it was totally my fault for leaving my bike unattended for a few seconds on my own block. Anyway, after that comment I couldn’t help but to blow up his spot. So, if you see this grimy cat lurking around, beware fellow cyclists, he’s on the prowl. Side note: Since I moved to the city in 1992, I’ve never ever had a bike stolen from me.

Efficient Gunman Robs Bushwick Deli

Police in Brooklyn are looking for a guy that pulled off one of the most orderly and time efficient holdups of a deli in Bushwick ever. Armed robbery in a few seconds flat, impressive.
