Carla Bruni won’t be lending her fame/tentative acting chops to the Woody Allen Summer Project. Eternally awkward Allen opted for the Edith Piaf portrayer Marian Cotillard, because first lady duties would make Bruni unreliable, despite her excitement and Sarkozy’s permission. Bruni, who was hoping to up her rep as an “artist” has more time to taunt NYC art students with ambiguous Parisian exchange programs and make Sarkozy look all smug. |Telegraph, NYer|
With the French prez visiting us, his graceful arm candy announces the Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Foundation’s NYC-Paris art student exchange, starting as soon as this summer, with an American donor’s $2 million to spread over 3 years. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was just seen blowing kisses and slinking around The Julliard School and New York University looking for underprivileged art students to send to Paris for a year. Those are… interesting places to look for them. |Forbes|

Remember that bare-skinned photo of French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s wife Carla Bruni, taken while she was a fashion model in 1993? The full body nude, shot by photographer Michel Comte was recently auctioned off at Christie’s and fetched more than 20x it’s estimated sale price. Although the photog claims he’d never sell the more “explicit” photos he has of Bruni, will he consider changing his mind now that the market has been tested? He didn’t bank anything on this after all, the photo was owned by collector of naked models Gert Elfering. Despite being one of the most famous nudes for sale at the auction, this image of a naked Kate Moss sold for $97K, but Brigitte Bardot had both of them easily beat with a photo of her fetching $181K. |BBC| |AmateurPhotographer|
Photographer Michel Comte must be pleased with all the attention this image is getting him considering it’s the tame one of the bunch. The Swiss photographer shot Carla Bruni when she was still a fashion model—back in 1993—and not the wife of current French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The black and white being auctioned at Christie’s next month and is expected to sell for about $4000 bucks. Although the shutterbug doesn’t know how the photo he took at the end of a session for Italian Vogue made it to auction, Comte isn’t worried, even claiming that’s he’s got a whole lot more where those came from, “I have other nude photographs of Carla far more explicit, but I would never sell them.” |AFP|
