Brooklyn-based photographer Clayton Cubitt shot the cover story for the current issue of ZINK magazine. His subjects are perfect bedfellows: models and meat. In “Raw Flesh,” the model plays Sushi Barbie, wearing thin slices of animal flesh like a tattoo sleeve, sporting an oversized exoskeletal spine, and dangling an octopus from her shoulder like a epaulette. On his blog, Cubitt posted an outtake from the series. “Publisher deemed it ‘too disturbing,’” he notes. “I’m getting sick of hearing that from publishers. Grow a pair.”
