New Regulations Force Colorado’s Medical Pot Patients to Sell their Souls

Effective July 1st, 77 pages of new regulations will be enacted to further lock down Colorado’s medical weed dispensaries and turn the program into the ultimate dystopian experiment. Sure, patients will have access to therapeutic cannabis, as long as they agree to fingerprint scans, tracking devices on their medicine, and don’t mind every one their transactions recorded on video that could later be reviewed by law enforcement. It’ll basically be like shopping at an Orwellian CVS.

Pro-pot groups in Colorado aren’t taking any chances with the 2012 ballot and so they’ve proposed eight initiatives calling for the full legalization of weed.

Colorado Weed To Come With Cool Labels

The medial weed industry in Colorado is starting to take hold and the state is taking steps to being the first in the nation to regulate the quality of medical weed. What kind is it? Colorado’s Weed Money Is in the Millions

Colorado has taken a California-like approach to its medical weed program, licensing hundreds of dispensaries around the state, and so far, so good. Patients are getting their medicine and generating lots of karma-free dollars in the process. The state collected $2.2 million in sales taxes for 2010 and Denver took in the same amount in local sales tax. But those numbers might be incomplete, as they don’t include what must be a marked increase in the sales of lighters, bongs, and presumably, soft drinks.

Colorado Lawmakers To Feds: Leave Our Pot Alone

Despite Attorney General Eric Holder’s federally mandated directives, the DEA continues to raid medical dispensaries in states where it’s legal, prompting lawmakers in Colorado to ask them to cut the shit, via email. Medical Weed: Helping Patients and Newspapers

With the medicinal weed economy booming in Colorado lately, it is starting to spread its love beyond just dispensary owners and to the people who really need it: media outlets! The Denver Post started taking medical weed ads in August and now at least a quarter of all the 100 dispensaries advertise there. And while the money generated from the ads isn’t all that yet, there’s still a lot of potential for growth in that sector. This new green industry is also sparking new jobs. As you may have heard, the Denver version of the Village Voice was looking to hire a pot critic not too long ago and is also benefiting from a boost in ad sales. |KUNC|
