<p>Layers, collages, cut-ups and cut-outs &#8212; it&#8217;s mixed media madness at Perry Rubenstein Gallery. The group show <em>&#8220;<a href="http://www.perryrubenstein.com/exhibitions/2010-07-01_shred/">Shred</a></em><em>&#8221; </em>features Eric Foss&#8217;s found vintage vagina face photo mash-ups, a &#8217;50s zoophobic collage by Jess, the Brooklyn duo <a href="../tag/faile/" target="_self">FAILE</a>&#8216;s mas-<em>tear</em>-piece above and more. <span id="more-87660"></span></p>
<p>The exhibit was curated by Carlo McCormick, artsy multi-tasker extraordinaire, senior editor of Paper magazine and the hilariously cruel judge of the <a href="http://animalnewyork.com/2010/03/art-handling-olympics-real-art-world-heroes/" target="_self">Art Handling Olympics.</a> It&#8217;s a hefty horde &#8212; from engraving to animation, from the Beats to punk to street art. Preview his pickings of <a href="http://animalnewyork.com/tag/Dash-Snow/" target="_self">Dash Snow</a>, <a href="http://animalnewyork.com/tag/Swoon/" target="_self">Swoon</a>, <a href="http://animalnewyork.com/tag/Elbow-Toe" target="_self">Elbow-Toe</a>, 35mm, jigsaws, cast resin, birch bits and a little glitter on top:</p>

Thanks to the unifying powers of public art, the noisy hotel&#8217;s neighbors will no longer use <a href="http://curbed.com/archives/2009/10/29/cooper_square_hotel_neighbors_pack_up_for_winter.php">dirty underwear and douche bags</a> to signal their displeasure because they simply have none anymore. <span id="more-45287"></span></p>
<p>Actually, that&rsquo;s not true. But the wall painting by Joyce Pensato, Nick 1, Vizie and Shinique Smith was finished, and the hotel did throw a party, though feuding neighbors were likely not invited. |<a href="http://curbed.com/archives/2009/11/17/cooper_square_hotel_mural_completed_five_new_landmarks.php">Curbed</a>|</p>
