The SITE Institute, a private company that monitors online activity by Muslim extremists, noticed it and alerted Entertainment Weekly, explaining how this forum “gets the most al-Qaida supporters.” Spooky! And so rare for the internet, a platform normally populated with niceties and shows of support.

A terrorism expert from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice explained the implications of such a posting:

It could be a total hoax — and it probably is — but in this world of mass communication, something that seems frivolous can intensify if it gets picked up by the wrong people.

Agreed … they’re called reporters.

Earlier this week, Ricky Gervais hit the circuit to to promote his new HBO special, Talking Funny. The comedian appeared on the Late Show and David Letterman told him there was nothing wrong with his now infamous Golden Globe jokes. Last night, Jon Stewart basically said the same.

Stewart offered his support and said the only apology Gervais owes is to him and that’s for setting the bar way too high as far as award shows go. Truthfully, the only people who didn’t enjoy those jokes were stuffy cunts and some of the privileged celebs that were being made fun of.

Poor Linds. She didn’t even do anything wrong, but was still lightly toasted by David Letterman for a flub that his staff made, when a prankster claiming to rep her called the Late Show and booked her to read the Top-10 list via satellite (she’s still got bail and parole problems.).

A giddy CBS, blasted out a presser and by the time the shot was heard around the world, Lindsay Lohan fired back, on Twitter, nicely. So Dave responded by making fun of her and her family.

Last night, Howard Stern appeared on the Late Show and gave David Letterman some pointers for crushing Jay Leno, like for one, don’t do commercials with him. He also told Letterman’s sidekick and producer that they need to step up their game.

I’m not even a fan of Letterman (Conan, Kimmel, Fallon, or Ferguson), but anyone contributing to the downfall of Leno is doing right by me.

Jay-Z went on the Late Show last night to discuss his Decoded book, but all David Letterman wanted to talk about was crack….and how much of it the rapper slung in his heyday, leading to a slightly awkward, but highly entertaining exchange.

According to one Late Show writer he definitely was, but tonight, Phoenix returns to the show and reportedly confirms Letterman’s claim that he was in no way involved in with the hoax. The Times reports:

But Mr. Letterman wanted to clear up any doubts that he had been in on the act the last time. “Frankly, when I heard about it later, was surprised that anybody had believed it,” Mr. Letterman said. “And then after seeing you here — first of all, really all I care about is me in this. Now, did I know anything about this?”

Mr. Phoenix said no, and that they had not been working from a script with Mr. Letterman during the earlier appearance.

Keep in mind, dude has been lying on a grand scale for the past two years. Anyway, CBS released a short snippet of tonight’s interview. Watch Dave flawlessly set up his denial:

Just when you think the seemingly never-ending late night talk show wars were winding down, along comes Monday night to flare them back up again. So what happened last night? Letterman admitted that he’s “really enjoying” making relentless fun of Leno, Leno said all of this is the network’s fault and Jeff Zucker praised himself.

Additionally, Conan spent most of his monologue ripping into the “incompetent morons” at NBC, but the network pulled the video from his website. Shocking, no. Anyway, you can watch it here if you like.

Last night Letterman continued his all-out assault on NBC and Jay Leno for the current late night fiasco over there, this time placing fathead NBC CEO Jeff Zucker in his sights. It’s sort of overdue that Zucker be identified as public enemy number one in this whole mess, which is essentially what Letterman did last night.
