The spray-cans are rigged to a remote-control device, releasing a colorful trail whens set off. Watch as their geometric abstractions get tangled tighter after each aerial. Oh, fun.

Unlike Madonna who selected a rubbish street artist to do her album cover, Christina Aguilera commissioned a competent one: D*Face. And at least she knows who he is. The pop singer happens to be a big fan of his work and has several of his paintings in her home. |Hooked|

Flaming Coca-Cola cocktails, flashing Nuns, and crocodile hunters are on display for StolenSpace’s Christmas show. The “Winter Warmers” group exhibition features new works by the London gallery’s cadre of artists including Miss Van, Gabriel Dubois and D*Face. The British street artist “in need of a riot” also screenprinted a handful of covers for the 10th issue of street art magazine Very Nearly Almost, released at the opening.

In addition to the opening of his Ludovico Aversion Therapy show at Jonathan Levine gallery this past weekend, British artist D*Face adapted some of the work into a series of murals painted on security gates on the Lower East Side—200 Clinton Street to be exact. While the exhibit at the gallery will be viewable until October 10th, the inevitable work of vandals will likely ensure a much shorter shelf life for these outdoor pieces.

In support of their work for impoverished and underserved children in Brazil, ABC Trust organized A Forca da Rua, a charity art show and auction. A dozen Brazilian and UK street-based artists, including D*FACE, REMI/ROUGH, Ramon Martins and Pure Evil, were invited to decorate a series of Gibson guitars. The decorated instruments will be shown from April 24th through May 12th and auctioned off on April 29th at The Printspace in London. Last week in London, while protesters were smashing things and 10 times as many journalists were photographing them, local street artist D*Face was showing his art on digital billboards around the city. The big question was: how did he do it? Were the billboards hacked like electronic road signs or bought like SKULLPHONE’s LA displays. Reached by email, D*Face told ANIMAL he pulled the billboards off “incredibly easily and it didn’t cost a penny.” Asked if the work was hacked, D*Face told us, “No not hacked, that’s near if not impossible, I’ve looked very long and hard at that option, but a miracle chance drunken encounter with a slightly corruptible individual that had access to the equipment helps. That’s all I can tell you as Clear Channel have gone ape shit over it.” Once again, booze and bribery prove themselves useful for getting things done.

In London today, the G20 is in full swing, or rather, riot police are swinging at protesters. Local street artist D*Face took the opportunity to showcase some new work, not on the street but on digital billboards around the city. Several variations of the G20 20 pound note are being displayed with the Queen in varying states of makeup and facelifts, something D*Face has become quite good at.

So did he hack the ad space or buy it? Just over a year ago, SKULLPHONE put his character up on digital displays around LA. Some bloggers claimed their “boy” hacked into Clear Channel’s computers, but that was a lie. He actually paid for the self-advertisements. Did D*Face do the same?
