Here’s a short video interview with Brooklyn street art duo FAILE talking about why they’re kind of obsessed with the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, but you’d be too if you watched it ka-boom live as a kid in elementary school.

Also interesting is the sophisticated delivery of their “artist process” chitchat about their sources of archival comics imagery and such, whilst there is on average three cartoon tits per minute. Well played, lads.

Speaking of spacecrafts blowing up, Russia’s Earth-plummeting Phobos-Grunt that could have crashed into New York, crashed into the Pacific. It may or may not have been hit with an anti-satellite weapon. Drama! Put that on your stencil. Pew pew.

Faile ‘Prayer Wheel’ Removal Fail

If graffiti writers are going put out a video about destroying street art, shouldn’t they, um, destroy said street art?

All I can take away from this footage shot on Kent Avenue in Williamsburg is that Faile now does a much better job installing their “prayer wheels” than they used to, when not even a chain attached to a pickup truck could rip it out of the ground.

I was informed that the piece is no longer there, sorry plankers, and can only imagine all of the off camera wrangling it took to finally bring it down.

FAILE, the Brooklyn-based art collective and maker of street art prayer wheels, has begun breathing some life back into the Bowery Wall on Houston Street, after JR’s decidedly flat piece that really only looked interesting when there was a hurricane in town. FAILE Prayer Wheel on Craigslist…Again

The street art scavenger who stole a FAILE prayer wheel back in April of 2009 is having a hard time selling the piece, but is still quite determined to do so. After a few unsuccessful attempts last year, the wooden sculpture is being offered on Craigslist for “$9999 or best offer CA$H.” It’s also “Garanteed [sic] authentic from the streets of brooklyn.”

Brooklyn duo FAILE erected a Temple in a public square in Lisbon for Portugal Arte 10. It’s like an alternate-future cult-chapel half-vaporized by alien invaders… or something. See confused tourists wander around the classical sculpture/pop art hybrid in a video by VernissageTV below.
